A large field awaited the opening of the gates at the Brickyard Monday, as the Warriors of the Monday Night Aero Thunder Series hit the bricks. Qualifying went smoothly as 18 drivers lined up to take a stab at the pole, when the dust settled, it was -ECT-MikeScott taking the pole with a lap of 52.873 seconds.
The field made its parade lap, then rumbled into the first turn, and onto the short-chute, and the race was on. Five laps into the 56 lap event, the pole sitter’s car sat in the garage, not to return. Eleven drivers led at least a lap, with -ECT-BSchilling leading the most at 26. When the checkers droppedat the completion of lap 56, the winner, -ECT-TJ had led only three laps, one of them, the most important…the last one. The rest of the Top 5 were: -ECT-BSchilling, -ECT-FDIESEL95, -ECT-REDCHEVY, and -ECT-Spoiler41. Spoiler gained the most spots of the race at 12, and the pole sitter, Mike Scott lost the most at 17.
Next week the series visits the “Lady in Black”, Darlington. Gates open for practice at 7:30p eastern, with qualifying an hour later.
